Perdido Street Blues

Louis Armstrong grew up in a poor neighborhood in New Orleans. When he was about five years old, he and the other kids would sneak out of the house on Saturday night and hang around outside an old hotel on Perdido Street to listen to the jazz music that was being played inside. Maybe that’s what his wife, Lil Hardin Armstrong, was thinking about when she wrote this song in 1926. “Perdido Street Blues”.
